The author, Ethel Pares (always known as "Bip") was a successful commercial artist who studied at the Slade in the early 1920s. In 1938 she married and her honeymoon was spent in the Himalayas, traveling with the British Everest Expedition. This is her own account of the journey, complete with her own illustrations.
