" The Australian Household Guide ... purported to contain everything that an Australian housewife might want to know. Profits went to charities". (Australian Dictionary of Biography.) Includes advice on running a household, diet, child care, personal appearance, and many recipes. The author, Deborah Drake-Brockman, was the daughter of Grace Vernon, née Bussell (heroine of the shipwreck in 1876 near the mouth of the Margaret River). She was later knowns as Mrs. Hackett, then Dr Buller-Murphy. An artist and mining entrepreneur she was also interested in the rare Australian mineral tantalite found in the Northern Territory and at Wodgina in Western Australia and was called 'Australia's Tantalum Queen'.
