Octavo, original cloth boards with blind-stamped decorations, restored with new cloth spine and the original gilt-stamped title label laid on, pp 804. Nineteenth-century previous owner's signature front endpaper, later owner's bookplate front free endpaper with different ownership stamp partially visible underneath, same previous owner's stamp page 1 and last page: otherwise the text is clean. Repairs to the edges of the last page. Light rubbing to boards and corners. Very good condition.
The standard lexicographical work of the Ancient Greek language, first published in 1843. The title page of this copy states the "twentieth edition", but the 1883 edition is considered the seventh edition, with further editions in 1909, 1940 and a supplement in 1968. Liddell-Scott (LSJ) has been used by generations of students of Ancient Greek, and in later editions is still very much in use: it is a classic of scholarship. Item #106938
