The poems of the British-Australian poet, horseman, police officer and politician Adam Lindsay Gordon. In his foreword, Marcus Clarke calls Gordon's work "something very like "the beginnings of a national school of Australian poetry". This particular copy was awarded at the Church of England Girls' School, Katanning, known as "Kobeelya" (a Nyungar word meaning "place of sleep and rest"). This copy has further interest in the addition of an original ink drawing entitled "The Australian Bush", possibly inspired by Gordon's poerty. Item #106906
