Closed tear to the inner corner of the front free endpaper. Previous owner's signature in purple pencil across the title page, dated 10 July 1911. (J.W. Courtney: possibly the early 20th-century American neurologist?). Overall a nice clean copy in very good condition.
An attractive copy of "The Rod in India", with a wealth of information on fishing and many illustrations. (The extensive illustrated publisher's catalogue are also of nineteenth-century India interest). Henry Sullivan Thomas joined the Indian Civil Service in 1855. He was known for his passion for fishing: he first published "The Rod in India" in 1881, then "Tank Angling in India" in 1887. The books were popular, and this is a very nice third edition copy.
