Geological map of Australia by Tannatt William Edgeworth David (1858-1934). Offered here are two parts (of four) showing Western Australia sections. David was a geologist who served as chief scientifc officer on Ernest Shackleton's 1907-1909 Nimrod Expedition completing the first journey to the South Magnetic Pole. His greatest contribution was the discovery of the South Maitland coal seam (New South Wales) in 1886. In 1931 he completed the first comprehensive Geological map of Australia, this being the Western Australian part showing detailed rock formations and geological cross-sections. Item #106697
