The first UK edition of the translation of this philosophical tale by French aviator and author Antoine de Saint-Exupery. "The Little Prince" is a modern classic: a charming illustrated tale with hidden depths, "a child’s fable for adults, with a gentle and grave reminder that the best things in life are still the simplest ones and that real wealth is giving to others." (Britannica). This edition was printed in 1944, ihe year that the author took off from an airfield in Corsica to conduct a reconnaissance mission over France and never returned. With the bookseller ticket of 'Bookshop of Margareta Webber', which was established in Melbourne in 1931. "Webber gained a reputation for her care in selecting stock and advising customers. [...] One third of the shop was set aside for children’s books, making her perhaps the first Australian bookseller to have such a designated section." (ADB). Webber would have recognised early the appeal of "The Little Prince" Item #106395
