An attractive and unusual edition of Lord Byron's work, introduced by the poet William Rossetti. This printing matches one in The British Library, which is catalogued as "Illustrated by Thomas Seccombe [or rather, by Ford Madox Brown]". (It is not clear why Ford Madox Brown would be using the name of another artist as a pseudonym.) This edition also matches the description in The British Library: "Without the additional titlepage and the frontispiece, the latter being replaced by a portrait. With different illustrations from the [1880] edition, that facing p. 410 signed: "M. W. Ridley." Item #105946
