The Case Against Vaccination 1936 [with] "Conscripts and Vaccination" leaflet

London: The National Anti-Vaccination League, 1936. Slim octavo, original printed stapled wraps, pp 8. Loosely inserted is a smaller, double-sided printed leaflet issued c. 1939 titled "Conscripts and Vaccination", stating that soldiers can refuse vaccination. Very clean, very near fine condition.

Pamphlet issued in June 1936 setting out the history of vaccination, the effects of vaccination in England, and the perceived dangers of vaccination. The author, Maurice Beddow Bayly M.R.C.S, L.R.C.P. (1887 - 1961) was an English physician, anti-vivisection and anti-vaccination activist, and Theosophist. The publisher, National Anti-Vaccination League, was a British anti-vaccination organization that was formed in 1896 from earlier smaller organizations. Historically, the League had opposed compulsory vaccination, particularly against smallpox. It was part of a wider anti-vaccinationist movement, arguing that vaccination did more harm than good.
