Worn to the spine with some rubbing head and foot, corners bumped, with rubbing corners and fore-edge. Previous owner's signature and inscription front free endpaper: "John Marsh", (possibly Lance Corporal Marsh of the 22nd Battalion, A.I.F). A second, different signature on title page. Very good condition.

A comprehensive account of Australian forces in the Middle Eastern theatre of the war. The author, Henry Somer (Harry) Gullett , was appointed as a war correspondent and accompanied the Light Horse from December 1917 onwards, followed by many interviews. Copiously illustrated, with many photographs and maps. The seventh of the series "Official History of Australia in the War of 1914 - 1918", edited by the official historian Charles Bean. Bean himself described Gullett's Sinai and Palestine volume as "the most readable and most read" of the twelve volumes of the official history. Item #104260
