Report of the Good Samaritan Society, Salford: the society was set up to provide some financial relief to the very poor. The rules of the society are set out, with a list of the officers of the society and a list of the subscriptions collected. Pages 6 - 11 are bordered in black and consist of an obituary of John Wood, born in 1817 and a member of the Good Samaritan society for 23 years: it describes his life and his religious activities. An uncommon record of nineteenth-century charitable organisations, "printed by steam power" in St Stephen Street, Salford. Item #103945
