Lacks title page, some light creasing to pages. New endpapers. The illustrated front cover states that the publishers as James Brown, Nautical Press, Glasgow. Front cover chipped with some loss, re-backed. Some marks to boards and stains particularly rear board. Interior toned but clean. Good condition.
Several hundred recipes for cooking on ships, from soups to sweets. Also includes advice on live stock, joints of meat, cleaning, substitutes ("if you are short of a rolling pin, use a wine bottle"), etc. Illustrations include carving joints of meat and folding serviettes. Uncommon. Item #103853
