In 1901, Abbot Torres initiated a diary to record daily life at New Norcia. These were known as Las Cronicas, or The Chronicles and they continue to this day almost without interruption. Torres appointed monks to be the chroniclers. The resulting entries, written by different people in their own styles, not only record life within the monastery but offer commentary on events unfloding in Western Australia, nationally and globally.
