Previous owner's signature front free endpaper and small bookseller ticket front endpaper, otherwise clean and bright, small rubbed area with loss to rear endpaper, light scuffs boards. Very good condition.

Golden Cockerel edition of two versions of H.G. Wells's story "The Country of the Blind", the original 1904 version and a new 1939 one. Wells writes in his introduction to this special limited edition: "The enterprise of the Golden Cockerel Press has made it possible for me to see in print (and very handsome print) two readings of my "Country of the Blind". [...] The two versions open with practically identical incidents, which I have never wished to alter; they run parallel until the distant mountain masses crack." Evocatively illustrated by Clifford Webb's engravings. Item #103319
