Sarah Stickney Ellis (1799 -1872), also known as Sarah Ellis was a Quaker turned Congregationalist. Her writings are mainly focused on women's role in society, moral education, and moral improvement. (Her husband was William Ellis the missionary). "The Morning Call" includes her novel " 'Self Deception, or The History of a Human Heart", serialised across the four volumes, as well as a variety of essays and poems. All are illustrated with steel engravings after drawings by H. Warren and L. Hicks. Item #103313
