Restored, with original cloth laid over matching cloth, gilt rules to new spine. N.d., c. 1880. Several plates faded. Very good condition.

Leitch was a watercolorist and illustrator whose father, William Leighton Leitch, served Queen Victoria and her daughters as drawing-master for almost twenty years. This popular manual went through nine editions and was aimed at amateurs, its progressive approach likely influenced by the senior Leitch's extensive teaching experience.
