Ratcliffe, Perth, Western Australia) front endpaper, no marks or inscriptions. Some flecking to boards, head of spine and corners lightly bumped and rubbed. Very good condition.

First edition of important medical work on epilepsy. Sir William Richard Gowers (1845-1915) was a British neurologist, described by Macdonald Critchley in 1949 as "probably the greatest clinical neurologist of all time". He practised at the National Hospital for the Paralysed and Epileptics, Queen Square, London (now the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery) from 1870 to 1910 and lectured at University College Hospital. He was known for both his observation skills and for the clarity of his writing, (The NHS centre for the treatment of epilepsy is named after him). Item #103014
