A comprehensive, copiously illustrated study of the life of Paul Robeson: renowned actor, singer, movie star, political intellectual, and America's first politically engaged performing artist. This particular copy was presented to Sheila Suttner (1923 - 2020) the activist, by the WA Branch of the Communist Party of Australia on her 80th birthday. Sheila Suttner spent decades fighting against the apartheid regime, both in South Africa and after migrating to Perth in 1984. She was also a strong advocate for indigenous rights and social justice. The book has multiple signatures on the front free endpaper and a loosely inserted A4 page also has multuple signatures and messages of support from fellow activists. Item #102204
