About the Bookbinder : 

Andy as apprentice at Bayntun-Riviere in 1966         Andy - today at Muir Books

Andy Haycock was first apprenticed as a bookbinder at the age of 16 at the well-known English bindery of Bayntun-Riviere in Bath, UK., founded in 1829 by George Bayntun and specializing in fine bindings and restorations.  Haycock was later one of the  founders of “Cottage Bindery, Bath” . He has bound and restored books for antiquarian booksellers throughout the world including significant and important libraries and private collectors including the Queen Mother and King Charles, restoring and rebinding some 300 botanical and gardening books.  He has also restored individual rare books including a Gutenberg Bible printed in 1454, the first book to be published in Western Europe using movable metal type. Since moving to Western Australia, Haycock works exclusively for Muir Books - Perth Bookbinding & Restoration.
