London: Heinemann, January 1902. 2nd ed., octavo, pp 344, b&w frontis port., Sir John Forrest, b&w plates, text illustrations, light foxing to front paste-down half-title, title page and last page with heavier foxing to front pastedown, professionally restored in original lightly fished red cloth boards decorated in gilt with two black swans and the "Golden Nugget", new eps (except for front pastedown) which has a presentation inscription to Vincent de Paul Gillen (later Sergeant of the 43rd Batt. AIF), signed by May Vivienne and dated March 11th, 1904. Very good condition.

Profusely illustrated tour of Western Australia. The boards are decorated with a black swan and the "Golden Butterfly" gold nugget. An account of May Vivienne's travels throughout Western Australia in the late 1890s, possibly the first travelogue of the state, writing about her journeys - particularly around the goldfields. The first edition was published May 1901 and the second edition in January 1902. Item #99327
