Presentation copy from author to English bookseller, Bernard Quaritch, signed and dated on half-title "To Bernard Quaritch with sincere regards from Isabel Burton, 21 Feby. 1879".

Published in February 1879, A.E.I. was Isabel Burton's second book. This copy presented to Bernard Quaritch, signed and dated by the author, 21 February 1879, was most likely to have been acquired by Quaritch at the launch of the book with many authors present including Bram Stoker and his close friend and actor, Henry Irving. Isabel Burton, later known as Lady Burton, was the wife of the explorer and writer, Richard Francis Burton. Item #93813
