Very good condition in like d.j., repaired and protected. Uncommon as first UK edition.

Frank Sherwood Taylor (1897 - 1956) was a British historian of science, museum curator, and chemist who was Director of the Science Museum. "The Alchemists" is a comprehensive, well-illustrated history of alchemy and its links to chemistry. Chapters include the ideas of alchemists, the first alchemists, signs and symbols, Chinese alchemy, Islamic alchemy, European alchemists, fourteenth-century alchemy, English alchemists, transmutations, the hermetic philosophy, and the relation of alchemy to science.
