The Plants Indigenous around Sharks Bay and Its Vicinity : Chiefly from Collections of the Honorable John Forrest

Perth: Government Printer, 1883. 1st ed., foolscap, pp.24, original green paper wraps with loss to lower front, light creasing to pages otherwise very good condition.

Rare. Original 1883 report being a comprehensive list (pp.5 to 24) of plants in this region of Shark Bay, Western Australia published following John Forrest's expedition in which he carried out his trigonometrical survey through the Gascoyne country in Western Australia. At the same time he also investigated the native flora in and around Shark Bay. Scientifically Forrest’s collections proved important, not only as exhibiting many new forms of plants, but also as showing more tropical species on the western side of Australia. This is the 24 page report by Ferdinand Von Mueller relating to the botany of this region and showing detailed listing of the plants found during the expedition. The report provides plant names, location found with name of collector. Item #100760
