Octavo, original full leather boards with gilt decorative border, gilt decoration to spine, author frontis engraved portrait plate, illus engraved vignette title page (Stothard and Nagle), marbled endpapers, pp vi, 115. Bookplate of William Robert Phillimore front paste-down. Leather heavily scuffed and rubbed all sides, hinges starting, loss of part of the leather title label gilt borders to boards and dentelles. Pencil marks in margins. Good condition.

Second edition, first publsidhed 1797. Thomas Garnett (1766-1802) was an English physician and natural philosopher. He was, as stated on the title page, Professor of Natural Philosophy and Chemistry at the Royal Institution. The book is a lecture on health, and is dedicated to his fellow physician Erasmus Darwin.
